Pathogenesis of Ardhavabhedaka
As per ayurveda , due to causative factors Vata Dosha gets vitiated which either individually or with vitiated kapha dosha gets lodged in half portion of the head and ultimately causes headache called ardhavabhedaka. The pain is very severe in nature .If this disease progresses, it consequentially may lead to blindness or deafness.
Symptoms as per Ayurveda
- Splitting or breaking type of severe pain in half portion of the head
- Throbbing pain in affected part of the head
- Giddiness or dizziness or loss of consciousness
- Pain as if injured by the sharp weapon or thunderbolt in the sides of the neck, eyebrow, temple, ear, eye and forehead of the affected half of the head
- Blindness
- Deafness
- Symptoms occur suddenly, as episodes once in 15 days or 10 days.
Home remedies

- Use of yashtimadhu powder or chandan powder with honey is useful in this condition
- Use of cow ghee for nose instillation is useful
