Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degenerative disorder of central nervous system.This disorder affects the dopamine producing neurons in the brain result in tremors in hands, slow movements, stiffness in limbs , problem in balancing the body. In Ayurveda, Kampa-Vata is a condition which closely resembles to Parkinson’s disease. Pathogenesis Of Kampa-Vata
Vata dosha gets aggravated on consuming vata vitiating food articles and/or gets exposed to activities (physical and mental) which is mentioned above. When the Chala guna of Vata gets vitiated severely in comparison to the other qualities of Vata, this vata get lodged in the muscle tissue and causes tremors and hence will be named as Kampa-Vata . Kampa or tremors caused by exacerbation of chala guna of Vata is the presenting symptom of this disease. This can be compared to Parkinson’s disease explained in the modern science.When the vitiated vata damages the muscle tissue considerably, the signs and symptoms of Kampa Vata, predominantly the tremors get manifested.
